Deck Estimator will create
a materials list and a partial lumber list. A lumber list generally contains
information about the lengths of all wood. Deck Estimator will give total
lengths of wood and some general lengths, but will not give exact lengths.
Deck Estimator does not design decks, therefore it does not know if a mid
span support is necessary under certain circumstances. You must determine
the correct lengths of lumber to buy.
The degree of accuracy depends on many
factors. A small deck will produce a very close estimate, a large and
complex deck with many different levels may produce an estimate that may
fall short (the cost of the deck will be more than your estimate). So care
should be taken and extra cost should be added to the price of the deck.
There always seems to be
the unknown added expense, be it the extra time that it takes to dig the
piers, very hard soil, or miscalculations of the time and labor. If you are
careless while inputting the information and just guess at the measurements
the output will be affected.
